The day it rained...

we were holding hands on the rocky shore
when i clenched your arm, as the clouds roared
I thought to flee but you kept on standing
I withdrew my steps, I was afraid of parting

the very next moment there came a warning bell
and soon we were under the watery spell
the clouds poured with all their might
and I squirmed again, dead with fright

I pulled you back and ran under a tree
I was timid and meek but you were in total spree
you struggled me back under the fiery drops
and laid me on the strand like a total corpse

I watched you scream like a joyful child
you made the furious drops feel so mild
you lifted me up in utmost glee
I felt like a bird, i felt so free

we jumped together in the puddles of water
our faces spoke of never-ending laughter
like never before you held my hand
and we kissed on that golden sand!

you didn't allow it to finish here
for you the end was far from near
in front of the setting sun, you played a song
and we danced with rapture all night long

in our blooming love, we were so engrossed
in an extravaganza of emotions we were so lost
nor time or tide could stop us that night
we spread an aura of warmth in the absence of light

to stop us, all the efforts of nature went in vain
and then bowed in respect, the clouds stopped to rain
in my room, I have still got those moments framed
to always remember the day, when it rained....
